We
are located 3 miles from the traditional welsh village of Meidrim, in the
village there is a traditional country pub which sells welsh beers and
serves food daily using locally sourced produce.
The county town of Carmarthen is situated 10 miles away, to be found here is a traditional welsh market, and many local independent shops plus the full range of recognised high street stores.
We are also within a short drive away from the south Carmarthenshire coast, with the pretty town of Laugharne only 10 miles away, with its preserved Norman castle and the home of famous Welsh Poet Dylan Thomas. One of his most famous works "Under Milk Wood" is reported to have been based on the seaside town of Laugharne.
Another jewel along the Carmarthen Bay coast is the village of Llansteffen which has been described as one of Wales best kept secrets. It is ideal for families wanting to go to the beach, and is the setting for one of the most dramatic locations for a castle anywhere in Wales, located on the headland above the village overlooking the entrance to the Towy river and Carmarthen bay.
Further along the Carmarthenshire coast some 17 miles from us is Pendine and the famous Pendine Sands, where Malcolm Campbell and J.G. Parry-Thomas set the world land speed record five times between 1924 and 1927. There is now a museum there commemorating this famous event where Babs the land speed record setting car can be seen with it’s 27 litre jet engine. The beach stretches for seven miles, and is well worth the visit.
